Alexandra Hooks is a post-doctoral researcher in the Fisheries Conservation Lab and works with MarineGEO's Oyster Working Group. Alex earned her Ph.D. from Florida State University, an M.Sc. from Stony Brook University, and a B.S. in Marine Science from the University of South Carolina. Her research background is diverse, spanning evolutionary ecology and species interactions before moving into community ecology, where she now studies oyster reef ecology across large biogeographic scales. Her work draws on field and statistical approaches to understand how environmental gradients and faunal communities shape coastal ecosystems.
When she isn't working, Alex enjoys reading, swimming, and spending time with her partner and three cats.
