Help us build the network and knowledge for a healthy ocean
Ocean life needs your help and so do we. To protect marine ecosystems we need to understand them, and that’s what MarineGEO is about. Here’s how you can help:
I want to join MarineGEO as a scientific partner
We partner with researchers and organizations worldwide. We capitalize on the network’s broad range of expertise, place-based ecological knowledge, and collaborative spirit as the foundation of dynamic long-term research on coastal marine life and ecosystems. By working together, we achieve understanding at scales none of us could accomplish alone.
Each partner site in the MarineGEO network is a regional catalyst for cooperative research, student training, citizen science, and public engagement. And each can serve as a gateway and leader for parallel activities at other network sites.
We know from experience the power and potential of partnerships, so we build long-term strategic collaborations with scientists, research programs, government agencies, universities, NGOs, and museums.
I’m interested in fellowships and internships
You can apply for a fellowship or internship with MarineGEO through the Smithsonian's Office of Internships and Fellowships and our partner observatories. Learn more about opportunities at Smithsonian’s Tennenbaum Marine Observatories Network sites:
